Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking training for your care home.

About Our Training

All Life Care training is delivered face-to-face at your care home. There is no online or remote option. CQC has raised concerns that online training alone is not always suitable for care staff, and that providers need to demonstrate actual competency — not just course completion. Our sessions are interactive, scenario-based, and every delegate is individually assessed.

Beyond the session itself, you receive a 10-week evidence lifecycle: pre-session preparation for delegates, competency assessments on the day, and spaced follow-up assessments at weeks 2–3 and 6–8. When CQC arrives, you won't just have a certificate saying your staff attended training — you'll have documented evidence that they still know it.

Nathan Kwabi holds a Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) from the University of Reading, a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), and multiple specialist certifications including Manual Handling Train-the-Trainer, Emergency First Aid at Work (Qualsafe), and RQF Level 3 Assessor qualifications.

The pharmacy degree means clinical courses like Medication Administration and Diabetes Awareness are delivered by someone who understands the pharmacology — not just the administration process. Nathan also has a professional acting background, which is why delegates consistently rate sessions 4.75 out of 5 for engagement. Learn more on our about page.

Up to 15 delegates per session. This is the maximum for effective interactive training — enough for productive group discussion, small enough that every delegate participates and is individually assessed.

If you have more than 15 staff needing the same course, we run additional sessions across separate dates. Multi-session bookings are factored into package pricing, so you benefit from volume discounts.

Yes. Before every booking, we send a Pre-Training Needs Assessment to understand your care home's CQC position, staff experience levels, resident profile, and any specific concerns. Nathan then adapts the session content, scenarios, and examples to your setting.

For example, a home specialising in dementia care will get different safeguarding scenarios than a home focused on learning disabilities. The core learning outcomes and regulatory content stay the same — the context and practical exercises are tailored to what your staff actually face on shift.

We offer 32 courses across four tiers, covering everything from statutory essentials like Fire Safety and Manual Handling through to specialist clinical sessions like Medication Administration and Epilepsy Awareness with Buccal Midazolam. Every course is mapped to specific CQC Quality Statements under the Single Assessment Framework.

You can view the full list with descriptions, durations, and CQC mapping on our courses page.

CQC and Compliance

Every Life Care course is mapped to specific CQC Quality Statements under the Single Assessment Framework. For example, Safeguarding Adults Level 3 maps to Quality Statement S3 (Safeguarding) and W5 (Governance), while Medication Administration maps to S8 (Medicines Optimisation).

This mapping is shown on each individual course page, and it's included in the CQC Evidence Pack we provide after training. When an inspector asks how your training relates to their findings, you can point directly to the relevant Quality Statements.

Every booking includes a comprehensive evidence lifecycle, not just attendance certificates. You receive: a competency assessment record for each delegate (showing they can do the job, not just that they turned up), pre and post confidence ratings, a post-session training report, training matrix contributions, and follow-up assessment results at weeks 2–3 and 6–8.

All of this is compiled into a CQC Evidence Pack mapped to the relevant Quality Statements. It's designed so that when an inspector reviews your training records, the evidence speaks for itself.

CQC does not approve or accredit training providers — any provider claiming “CQC Approved” status is making a misleading claim. What we can say is that all Life Care courses are aligned to CQC standards, mapped to Quality Statements under the Single Assessment Framework, and designed to produce the evidence that CQC inspectors look for when assessing the Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led domains.

Our training supports your compliance with CQC Regulation 18 (Staffing), which requires providers to ensure staff receive appropriate training, professional development, and supervision.

Booking and Pricing

Start by submitting an enquiry . From there, the process is straightforward: a 15-minute discovery call to understand your training needs, a tailored proposal within 48 hours, and then we agree dates that work around your rota.

There's no obligation at any stage. The discovery call is just an honest conversation about what your home needs — we'll tell you if something doesn't require external training.

Training is priced per session, not per person — so you get the same rate whether you send 5 or 15 delegates. Sessions range from £650 to £1,100 depending on the course tier and duration. That works out to as little as £43 per person for a group of 15.

We also offer multi-course discounts: 10% off for 3–4 courses, 15% for 5–7 courses, and 20% for 8 or more. Most care homes booking a statutory and mandatory training package hit the 20% threshold, which significantly reduces the per-session cost.

For a specific quote tailored to your home, get in touch — proposals are free and there's no obligation.

Yes. The more courses you book, the lower your per-session rate:

  • 3–4 courses: 10% discount
  • 5–7 courses: 15% discount
  • 8 or more courses: 20% discount

The discount is based on total courses booked, not on a fixed bundle — so you can choose whichever courses your home needs. If you already cover fire safety through another provider and want to swap it for something else, the discount still applies.

Per session. Each session covers up to 15 delegates at a flat rate, so you're not paying extra for each person in the room. This works better for care home budgets because you know the exact cost upfront, regardless of how many staff attend.

We do also show per-person prices on the website for individual bookings, but group session rates are where the value is for care homes booking multiple courses.

Practical Details

We deliver training across South East England, covering London (all boroughs, with particular focus on South East London), Kent, Essex, and Surrey. Most bookings are within a 60–90 minute drive of our base.

If you're unsure whether your location is covered, just ask — it's a quick answer. For package bookings across multiple dates, travel can often be optimised so it's not an issue.

A suitable room with enough space for your delegates, a power supply for the projector, and chairs arranged so everyone can see the screen and participate in group activities. Nathan brings all training equipment, materials, and handouts.

For practical courses like Manual Handling or Basic Life Support, a bit more floor space is needed for demonstrations and practice. Nathan will confirm specific room requirements when the session is booked.

Yes. Every delegate who meets the competency standard receives a Certificate of Completion on the day, with a unique certificate number that matches their competency assessment record. Certificates include the course title, date, duration, learning outcomes covered, and Nathan's trainer credentials.

These are genuine competency-verified certificates — not just proof of attendance. The certificate number links to the full assessment record in your CQC Evidence Pack.

They receive a development plan, not a fail. If a delegate doesn't meet the competency standard on the day, Nathan agrees a supported action plan with them and arranges follow-up assessment at 2–3 weeks. Most delegates achieve competency at this stage with a bit of additional support.

This approach is better for CQC evidence than a simple pass/fail — it demonstrates that your home identifies and addresses development needs rather than just ticking a box.

We aim to accommodate bookings within 2–4 weeks, though availability varies. If you're under CQC pressure and need training urgently, let us know — we'll do our best to fit you in quickly.

For planned annual training programmes, booking a few months ahead secures your preferred dates and lets us schedule multiple sessions efficiently.

Cancellations more than 14 days before the session date receive a full refund. Between 7 and 14 days, a 50% cancellation fee applies. Less than 7 days' notice, or a no-show on the day, is charged at the full session rate. Rescheduling to a new date within 30 days is free of charge, subject to availability.

Full details are in our Terms and Conditions.

After the Training

The training doesn't end when the session finishes. Over the following 10 weeks, your delegates receive two spaced follow-up assessments — the first at weeks 2–3, the second at weeks 6–8. These are based on spaced retrieval practice, which research shows significantly improves long-term knowledge retention in healthcare professionals.

You also receive a Delegate Engagement Report showing how each staff member progressed, a training matrix update for your records, and the full CQC Evidence Pack. It's designed so the training keeps working long after the session day.

Yes. Most courses require annual or biennial refresher training, and we send reminders before certificates expire so you don't lose track. Refresher sessions are shorter and focused on updates, changes in practice, and reinforcing core competencies.

If you're on a multi-course package, refresher sessions maintain your discount rate — you don't restart the pricing ladder each year.
